Women in Tech® Global is the world’s leading organization, part of the World Economic Forum’s Edison Alliance, committed to reducing the gender gap in the technology sector, with the goal of supporting five million women and girls in STEAM by 2030. Founded in 2018 by Ayumi Moore Aoki and headquartered in Paris, the organization has grown into a global movement present in over 50 countries across six continents, with a community of more than 250,000 members. Women in Tech® operates through four key pillars—education, business, digital inclusion, and advocacy—with the aim of developing digital skills, supporting female entrepreneurs and leaders in the tech industry, and promoting policies and initiatives that foster a more inclusive digital ecosystem. The organization is also active in tech diplomacy, collaborating with international institutions and global partners to help shape a more equitable and sustainable digital future.
Women in Tech Italy was established as the national chapter of this global network, with the mission of strengthening Italy’s innovation ecosystem by unlocking and promoting untapped female talent in the digital sector. The chapter drives initiatives focused on education, networking, and collaboration among companies, institutions, universities, and tech communities to address some of the key challenges of the future of work, including the ICT skills shortage (with over 100,000 unfilled ICT roles) and the underrepresentation of women in tech careers. In a context of rapid transformation driven by artificial intelligence and digitalization, Women in Tech Italy aims to contribute to building a more inclusive, sustainable, and competitive digital future for the country.
